Drama: Playmaking
Elective Unit
Unit Description
Drama helps students to be curious, collaborative and communicate effectively.
This course fosters student creativity, as they work collaboratively to devise original theatre works. They explore naturalistic and non-naturalistic theatrical conventions to help them respond to different ideas and create meaning for an audience. Students learn about the dramatic elements and how these can shape a performance.
Characterisation is vitally important to playmaking and students learn to use the expressive skills of voice, gesture, movement and facial expression to realise their ideas in a performance. Students go on an excursion to view a professional production during the course of the semester.
Please note: Students are required to choose at least one Elective unit from Drama or Music either in Year 8 or Year 9.
